Tarlac State University hosted the Tarlac Small and Medium Enterprise Development Council’s 2nd quarter hybrid meeting yesterday (June 16) at the main audio-visual room.
SMED Council helps advance innovation and drive improvements through streamlining transactions, improving access to technologies, and offering mentoring programs, while making businesses more sustainable.
During the meeting, the council formed a calendar of events and created a Technical Working Group focused on branding, coaching, and mentoring, and discussed the summary of agreements, the North Luzon Area Business Conference (NLABC), and the integration of Halal food by DOST Tarlac.
The MSE council has also sought the university’s expertise on intellectual property for Tarlac products and on creating a database for each sector or product.
TSU President Dr. Jasper Jay Mendoza pledged TSU’s support for branding, registration, packaging, and other services under the Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension. President Mendoza also said the council is welcome to hold its meetings at TSU.
The council is also preparing for the upcoming Tarlac Business Convention and Expo (BIZCONEX), which will run from July 15 to 17.
Members of the SMED Council present during the meeting are Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Dr. Nino Corpuz, Director of the Food Technology Research Center Dr. Lea Milan, DOST Tarlac Provincial Director Ms. Karen Danez, Philippine Chamber of Commerce (PCCI)-Tarlac Vice President Ms. Virgin Mary Nicolas, Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Dr. Krishna Buenaventura, representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry -Tarlac.
